As we count down for Joomla Day, we want to thank our registraints and send our gratitude to our sponsors for making this day happen.  In just 15 days, we will "All Come Together As A Whole" at the Ritz Alamo Drafthouse.  There we will have the opportunity to learn how to build a Joomla website from beginning to end, taught by notable Joomla leaders.

We are happy to announce the winner of the non-profit nominations for Joomla Day Austin -  MinisandFriends.org provides "equine assisted therapy" for people who have mental and physical handicaps.  They also work with hospice and children who are victims of abuse.  Their programs tailor activities for children with disabilities, at-risk youth, individuals in transition and elder adults to improve their motor skills, ability to connect, tactile response, use of senses and spirits through interaction with miniature horses.

On September 15, 2011, a local non-profit will have the opportunity to learn Joomla and walk away with a free website.  Come to Joomla Day Austin to see the impact a Joomla website can make on your charity!  

Austin City Limits ("ACL") not to be confused with Joomla Access Control List is one of the biggest music festivals in Austin, Texas.  This year we are making ACL a Joomla ACL such that we hope Joomla users will stay after Joomla Day Austin to enjoy the beats of Arcade Fire, Airborne, and Manu Chao.  ACL is a three day event held in the heart of south Austin at Zilker Metropolitan Park.  Thousands of fans visit Austin during this time of year, completely covering the 350 acres of Zilker Park.  130 acts from all over the world will play on eight different stages and rock it out this year.  The ACL lineup was just posted last week.  Austin will be tapping performances from all genres to guarantee a fun and surprising visit.

Today I toured the Joomla speaker hotel, Hilton Doubletree Downtown Austin.  I wanted to get an idea of what to expect on their arrival.  The corporate sales coordinator, Shannon, mentioned they are undergoing renovations and everything will be done by speaker arrival.  I was invited to have lunch with her to discuss yearly events and the possibility of having our Joomla meetups at the hotel.  I will say, "I was highly impressed."
